It took me back to a simpler time when prophets and apostles took the lead on setting the scriptural record straight rather than ceeding that precious ground to the so-called scholars.finepixhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05084635128218546053noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275804374019732213.post-71842298254176365022016-10-28T16:38:19.760-07:002016-10-28T16:38:19.760-07:00I love that analogy too. People who reject the New York Cumorah reject so much important symbolism and meaning.

In Moroni's America, I suggested it is fitting that the gospel was restored in the exact spot where it was extinguished. The apostasy in the Old World took place first. Then the Nephites apostasized, so that Moroni was the last mortal to hold Priesthood keys. Having him return to the place where he lived and ministered to restore the gospel is a beautiful symbol of restoration.

I think the Sacred Grove is where Moroni saw the Lord. The construction of the first temple in this dispensation in Ohio is not some random location, either. We'll discuss all of this in more detail once we get Cumorah straightened out with the scholars and educators.
:)

It's also interesting to contemplate how the Nephites were destroyed starting in Zarahemla as the Lamanites conquered them, pushing them through Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and ultimately New York. Then the Church was organized in New York and spread westward through these same areas.jonathan3dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05379975395372054926noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275804374019732213.post-16510347981145463732016-10-24T21:17:35.189-07:002016-10-24T21:17:35.189-07:00This is something I've been thinking about a b...This is something I've been thinking about a bunch lately. I've been asking myself these two questions:

1.) Why would Moroni bury the plates 3000 miles from where both nations of once highly favored people of the Lord annihilated themselves?

and

2.) Why would Moroni bury the plates on the site of where both nations of once highly favored people of the Lord annihilated themselves?

I found my answer in symbolism, and the self-similar pattern of symbolism I see in the scriptures. Where the Nephites and the Jaredites both fell and returned to dust, out of that same dust, in that same location, they would rise again to new life. It's only fitting that Moroni placed the record to be extracted from the ground from whence his people died, bringing their voices to new life, as a voices of warning, and voices bringing us to Christ. Imagine the staggering symbolism here! Sin, death, repentance, redemption, new life. Isn't this how God has worked before? It's completely missed if they all died in a literal foreign land. Moroni seems like a sentimental kind of guy to me, why wouldn't he desire the redemption of his fallen people? He put the plates where they died.

In letter VII, and these conference talks, it talks about the sad circumstances of the nations do go out this way, and we ask why? But the end of the story isn't their death, it's that they were brought back to life to convince the gentile and the jew that the way they did things isn't the way to do things. It all happened at Cumorah, New York, the land of desolation.Roryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15464871210618980262noreply@blogger.com
