Ideas conquered long ago

Long ago, Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery conquered false claims that the Book of Mormon was fiction or that it came through a stone in a hat. But in recent years certain LDS scholars have resurfaced the false claims. To conquer them again, we have to return to what Joseph and Oliver taught.

D-Day and no more contention

We're living in Normandy, France, about 10 km from Utah Beach. Utah Beach was the westernmost of the five landing areas of the Normandy Invasion of World War II.

Across the street from us is the Hotel de Ville, decorated with lots of flags.

There are flags from France, Canada, the USA, the UK, the EU, and even Germany. One of the restaurants down the street has a sign on the window that reads "Deutsch gesprochen" (German spoken).

Even in September, our village is crowded with tourists from all over the world, including many Germans. It's wonderful to enjoy the peace here among nations that fought viciously during World War II.

Fighting wars to produce peace is how King Benjamin achieved "no more contention" as explained in the verses leading up to Mosiah 1:1.

I mention this because so many good things are happening in the world today.

Even among people who disagree about the origin and setting of the Book of Mormon, there is lots of potential for "no more contention."

All we have to do is agree to use the FAITH model of analysis.

:)
