long ago ideas

“When we are tired, we are attacked by ideas we conquered long ago." - Friedrich Nietzsche. Long ago, Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery conquered false claims that the Book of Mormon was fiction or that it came through a stone in a hat. But these old claims have resurfaced in recent years. To conquer them again, we have to return to what Joseph and Oliver taught.

References

People ask me all the time what materials I've read about Church history and Book of Mormon geography. There are over 400 footnotes in each of my books, but even 400 notes can't include everything I've read on this topic. I've been reading about these things since I was in high school, with more focus since I took a class from John Sorenson in the 1970s. Rather than list everything, here's a photo of some of the books I read for the Zarahemla book. This doesn't count the hundreds of articles in FARMS, BYU Studies, Maxwell Institute, Interpreter, Dialogue, Ensign, and other journals, or the old books I've accessed through Google books, archive, and other online sources. Not to mention all the blogs.
