On this blog, we pursue clarity, charity and understanding. We encourage everyone, Latter-day Saints and others alike, to make informed decisions.
We think the rising generation wants to make informed decisions. That's why we keep posting information on this and other blogs, in books, podcasts, etc.
It's akin to free speech, which is meaningless when people can't hear the speech.
RFK Jr. said it well recently in a political context:
“If you don't believe in free speech, it means because you don't trust the people. You don't trust them to figure it out on their own, to have information on which they can base their ideas and their notions and their beliefs. And their votes... And really, it's exactly the opposite of democracy.”
It's also the opposite of liberty and agency.
_____
Our critics disagree with the pursuit of clarity, charity and understanding.
It's very strange, but Scripture Central and the other well-known M2C/SITH promoting organizations continue to promote M2C and SITH without informing their followers that there are alternative faithful narratives.
Worse, they suppress and censor legitimate, authentic information that contradicts M2C and SITH.
Long-time readers here know that I've frequently proposed that Book of Mormon Central (Scripture Central), the Interpreter, Meridian Magazine, and other promoters of M2C and SITH should offer their readers, viewers, and donors a clear comparison among alternative faithful narratives about the origin and setting of the Book of Mormon.
But all these M2Cers and SITH sayers outright refuse to do so.
It's amazing that their students, employees, and donors continue to put up with this.
________
11 And also it is an imperative duty that we owe to all the rising generation, and to all the pure in heart—
12 For there are many yet on the earth among all sects, parties, and denominations, who are blinded by the subtle craftiness of men, whereby they lie in wait to deceive, and who are only kept from the truth because they know not where to find it—
13 Therefore, that we should waste and wear out our lives in bringing to light all the hidden things of darkness, wherein we know them; and they are truly manifest from heaven—
14 These should then be attended to with great earnestness.
(Doctrine and Covenants 123:11–14)
