long ago ideas

“When we are tired, we are attacked by ideas we conquered long ago." - Friedrich Nietzsche. Long ago, Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery conquered false claims that the Book of Mormon was fiction or that it came through a stone in a hat. But these old claims have resurfaced in recent years. To conquer them again, we have to return to what Joseph and Oliver taught.

Speaking this week (6-8 April 2017)

I have three speaking engagements at UVU in Orem, Utah, this week that are open to the public. Here's the link:

I always try to schedule my presentations just before a meal break so there is plenty of time for Q&A, so this is your chance to ask lots of questions.

Dates and topics:

Thursday, 11-noon
The Universal Model and Environmental Science

I've been teaching college courses on Environmental Science and Ethics for many years. (I have BS and MS in agircultural economics and business, which involved a lot of environmental science classes, and I practiced environmental law.) In this presentation, I discuss how the Universal Model offers some new insights into environmental issues.

I'm also launching a new book, Before the World Finds Out.

Friday, 4:30-5:30 pm
Moroni's America

I'm presenting some new information about Book of Mormon geography and historicity as it pertains to Moroni's America. I'll also introduce some new DVDs.

I'm also launching a new book, Because of this Theory, which is an edited version of some of my posts on this blog.

Saturday: 4:30-5:30
Whatever Happened to the Golden Plates?

I'm presenting some more information about the two sets of plates Joseph translated. My thesis: about 1/4 of today's Book of Mormon was not in the original plates Joseph received from Moroni. He got the plates of Nephi (D&C 10) later, when he went to Fayette.

This is related to my new book, released in January, titled Whatever Happened to the Golden Plates?
